The top of Cathedral mountain is a great place to spend your summer vacation, an exceptional setting to enjoy its spectacular scenery and experience nature.


Throughout the summer, the mountain offers the chance to enjoy a multitude of activities. Those of all ages who want to experience the mountain may choose between hiking to the top or taking a class in La Hoyita, a class for climbing on the upper southern slopes which is still covered in snow long after winter has passed. These activities are free by simply presenting the ticket stub from the chair lift. Surely there will be those who would just like to sit in the sun and enjoy the landscape from the Princess Point deck or on the terrace of the Parador Conection , a café on the top of the mountain.

Parents, for the children to also thoroughly enjoy the mountain there is the “Kids Club”, a playground where the fun is guaranteed and free. With the support of instructors there is an arena to practice climbing and a zip line so that young ones can be introduced to mountain sports. Futhermore, La Hoyita has a place for learning activities, a trampoline, a beach volley ball court and a pelotero, full of small plastic balls like they may know from home.

  • Hiking
    Guided hikes an hour and a half long, are great for the whole family including the children and start from a path near Princess Point and goe right along the top edge of the peak. From this vantage point you can enjoy the incomparable scenery of the mountains and Rucaco Valley. Cunsult for times and prices.

  • Rock Climbing
    Natural rock climbing, in the area of La Hoyita, with sanctioned equipment and a system of connected ropes on a natural rock wall 100 feet in height.

  • Zip line and climbing area
    Two activities for children in the recreational area of La Hoyita.

  • Kids Club
    Recreational activities for children between 3 and 12 years old, it has a place for art and a playground for kids with trampoline and multi adventure space where they can climb, use the zip line and practice all their climbing skills. Its in the area of La Hoyita.

Other activities

  • Horse back riding
    An activity for the whole family. This takes one and a half hours and starts from the base of the Chapelquito area on the north face of Cerro Catedral.

  • Rapell
    Self-controled descent with ropes down a naural rock face. Equipment and instructor provided.

  • Mountain bike
    Form the experts that dominate the sport to novices who want to know what its like to race down a mountain, everyone can enjoy the novel tracks at Cerro Catedral mountain bike park. You can climb through mountain bike pass ( on your own bike or a rental from the base)as often as you like through the course of the day. It is mandatory to use protective gear. At the base there are schools, instructors and rental bikes and equipment.

  • Mountainboard
    Hour long instruction class before descending down slope number 6. For the advanced.

  • Fourwheelers
    Excursions to La Cueva (the cave) in Bombardier, 400cc, two seater fourwheelers. Trips start from the Southern Sector Cabin located opposite the main parking lo.
